It’s in Their Genes Aaccording to Linus Gitahi

When you look at many of the sports in America, you notice that a large percentage of the athletes are African American. Linus Gitahi, in his blog on Kenyan running, states that this is due to genetics.

In his blog, Linus Gitahi quotes John H. Manners who states that the reason Kenyan runners are the world’s best runners is because their ancestors had to run fast to catch stray cattle. According to Manners, a Darwinian process occurred because “the faster they run, the bigger their herds grow.” Manners proceeds to give several examples of Kenyan runners who had not practiced running, but when they earned scholarships based on their heritage, they became excellent trackmen.
